Karly Grant

The Older, The Crazier is a photography series created by Karly as her year 12 VCE final artwork. The work is a collection formed to challenge the traditional stereotypes of elderly people, them being seen as boring, plain and unexciting. Karly broke down this stereotype through a series of photographs showing off the elderly’s craziness and inner youth, capturing them having the time of their lives. This showcased to the audience that the elderly people aren’t stale, as what society makes them out to be, but have and lived very exciting lives. The styling behind these photographs also captures garments and accessories that were hand made by Karly herself, to style the models in. This enhanced the concept behind the images, allowing the old people to be captured in a very youthful way through styling aspects.
